Chairman's Report

The competition calendar had followed the same order as last year. All the usual competitions had been run in the previous season, at the Hertfordshire Sports Village. The team foil was due to take place after the A.G.M. The entry in the age group competitions was up by 10% due to an increased attendence by the TRYB and St Albans Girls School. The numbers in the novice adult competitions were similar to the year before, but numbers in the senior events were down. The event winners so far were as follows:

Men's Foil: Andy Doherty (Watford)
Ladies' Foil: Lauri Cox (St Albans)
Men's Épée: Andy Tucker (St Albans)
Men's Sabre: Andy Aitken (North London Sabre)
Ladies' Épée: Jenny Rowe (St Albans)
Ladies' Sabre: Claire Winzca (North London Sabre)
Master at Arms: Paul Cramphorn (Watford)

Courses

No courses had been run during the year. It was hoped that number and variety of courses being run could be sustained with the renewed level interest coming from fencers in the county especially among the junior fencers. Douglas Gordon (St Albans/Watford) proposed that we try to get a presiding course run during the age group competition as county is the lowest level and we would then already have a venue and people to preside which is always a problem at that competition.

Treasurer's Report

The problems with the account have been resolved and the account now in use. Over the course of the year a profit of around £300 has been made. The main outgoings being hall hire and medals, and the income from the counties competitions. The age group in particular made a decent return.

Committee Motions

A proposal was made to take profit from the age group competitions to buy trophies for the age groups with the most entries.

Tony Conyard (St Albans) may be able to supply details of someone we can get a deal with on the trophies. This motion was unanimously carried.

An open discussion on Youth Fencing then took place. It is the general opinion that we should talk to the BFA, other counties and Graeme Reid (WH) to discuss youth fencing and what they are doing and where they see it going.

The impact of the New Kit Regulations was discussed. Clubs are slowly beginning to replace their kit with new regulation kit. Duellist currently have a deal where jackets can be purchased for £45 and an old jacket. They are likely to extand this to masks in a couple of months. The university have asked the committee to write a letter to the Student Union to clarify their position.

Election of Officers

The commitee had all agreed to stand for their current positions for a further year. Nominations were taken from the floor and there were single candidates for each post who were then elected unopposed.

The new committee was as follows:
Chairman:Paul Cramphorn (University)prop. Philip Allen (St Albans), sec. Douglas Gordon (St Albans/Watford)
Treasurer:Philip Allen (St Albans) prop Paul Cramphorn sec. Chris Goodman (Dacorum)
Secretary:Jason Fox (Watford)prop. Tony Bardell, sec. Douglas Gordon

The meeting was closed at 12.55 p.m.
