Silent Lessons

Give a routine lesson to your pupil without voice commands. This ensures the coach offers correct blade presentation, since the pupil will react with the action thought most appropriate.

Silent Épée

  1. To initiate an attack - open a line. The blade movement should be minimal.
  2. To initiate an attack in opposition - engage blades and extend arm slightly forwards.
  3. To initiate a stop hit, expose target prior to moving forward.
  4. To initiate a parry reposte, only offer target after pupil has parried.
    1. For sixte resposte oppostion to arm, keep arm/blade flat (to avoid) stop hit whilst coming in, as the parry occurs, slightly lower arm to block reposte under arm.
    2. For sixte resposte indirect - as above, but raise arm to block the direct reposte.
    3. For sixte resposte croisé - as above, but raise arm and force the (attempted) remise forward.
