Liam Harrington also passed his Diploma (level 5) sabre coaching award on the same course.
Three Counties League Match V St Albans - March 2008
Predictably St Albans fielded their strongest foil team, however this time things did not go their way as the our team of, Ben Waldon, Chris Jennings and Pervez Choudhury fought their way to a comfortable 6-3 victory, in a contest that saw Pervez Choudhury score a notable victory over the much more experienced Terry Salinger.
Our epee team have had a difficult time of it this season, and unfortunately this match was no different. Things started brightly enough for us with Duncan Cave winning the first bout. That proved to be our only success however, and St Albans romped home to an easy 8-1 win, taking the match 11- 7 overall.
Three Counties League Match v St Albans - February 2008
This was our first home match of the season. St Albans fielded a strong foil team, including veteran fencer Tony Conyard. His experience in competing on the national veterans circuit gave them the edge they needed, and St Albans went on to win 6-3.
The epee was much closer and the teams stood at 4 fights all going into the last bout. Watford’s Amie Watson took an early lead scoring the first two points, but her opponent David Reid quickly learned to adapt to Amie’s counter attacks, and staged a comeback to win the fight 5-3, and secure a 5-4 victory at epee for St Albans, giving them a 11-7 victory in the match overall.
Three Counties League Match v Bedford - February 2008
This month saw us travel to Bedford Fencing club for our first away match of the season.
Our foil team of Chris Jennings, Ben Waldon and Pervez Choudhury, overcame a competitively inexperienced Bedford team without any difficultly going on to win 9 all nine bouts.
Bedford are capable of fielding a strong epee team however, and that side of the match was always going to be difficult for us. Things started well with Liam Harrington defeating his opposite number Graham Heale 5-0. After that though it was all one way traffic, as Bedford went on to win 7 of the remaining eight fights, with only Tony Bardell managing to grab a consolation victory for Watford.
However the two victories at epee gave us enough to secure the match 11-7 over all.

Fencing in CAT B (Over 60) Sabre, Tony finished in the last 8, a very respectable result. He only lost his last bout 10/9, so just one more point and he would have finished in the medals!
New Fencing Master August 2007
Club coach Gianpaolo Marini completed his Hungarian Coaching course this year, passing his coaching diploma at all three weapons, a spectacular achievement, and the result of years of hard work.
This means the club is now lucky enough to have Fencing Master as coach for the first time in many years.
